Herald columnist Neil Mackay has predicted the United Kingdom will break up under pressure from a united front of nationalist parties in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. His comments came as First Minister John Swinney told The Herald the world has “moved on” from Sinn Féin’s controversial links to the Irish Republican Army.

First Minister John Swinney said the SNP, Sinn Féin and Plaid Cymru – the nationalist party in Wales – must work together on the constitutional divide with Westminster.
