The scale of the problem
Official government data shows that India reports around 3.7 million dog-bite cases every year — nearly 10,000 bites a day. Hospitals administer millions of anti-rabies injections annually.
In Jammu & Kashmir, the situation is even more alarming. Government figures show over 2.1 lakh dog-bite cases since 2022 alone.
