Tensions flare as MP accused of 'witch hunt' over community donations row
Rupert Lowe and his Great Yarmouth First party called for a £2,000 ward bursary given to Yarmouth councillors to be scrapped and for more transparency over where the money goes.
Instead, he said the total £78,000 should be used to "keep council tax down", which would equate to a reduction of less than £1 for people in the borough.
The backlash to the scheme, which aims to give councillors a small pot of funds to support local causes in the ward they represent each year, has angered Mr Lowe's political rivals.
