Padel courts could be served up in college grounds
An existing Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) could be replaced with three new padel courts installed on the grounds of Lowestoft Sixth Form College.
Agents CRD Building Consultancy submitted plans to East Suffolk Council on March 6 on behalf of the applicant William Beeson.
A scheme centring around "Replacement of existing MUGA with three padel courts and a storage container/cabin for equipment storage and shelter" at Lowestoft Sixth Form College along with "new 3m high fencing" to be installed around the courts is currently "awaiting decision" with the council.

Documents said the MUGA on the college site at Rotterdam Road in Lowestoft measures 769sq metres.
It is situated "adjacent to Water Lane Leisure Centre" and the college, and as well as the proposed introduction of three padel courts, it earmarks installing "a storage container/cabin for equipment storage and shelter during inclement weather".
Documents said: "The two courts closest to the sports centre are to be covered with canopies to provide protection from UV light and inclement weather.
"New 3m high fencing is to be erected around the courts."
With "powder coated steel frame and mesh" to surround the padel courts along with "glass to the shorter ends of the courts," it added: "Each court is served by one keypad access controlled gate.
"The majority of the site is an existing multi use games area with an asphalt sealed surface.
"There will be some concrete pad foundations formed and an extension to the north of the existing MUGA into the grassed area, however this will not exceed 25 sq m."
Padel is described as "a fast-growing, social racquet sport" that combines tennis and squash as it is played on enclosed glass/mesh courts
East Suffolk Council is likely to make a decision in the coming weeks.
