South Norfolk Diss and Roydon councillor Graham Minshull said: "People in Diss say all the time that they're having trouble getting a doctor's appointment."

"After years we've finally managed to get funding for a new doctor's surgery which will be part of the £16million going into Diss in the next three years."

"The opportunity came along where South Norfolk Council were in a fortunate position, with money to invest and money to spend, and we pushed for it to be spent on upgrading facilities."

"It's great news for the town" Cllr Minshull added, "I'm really pleased.

"The money's in place and now we're just waiting for planning permission and discussions about building specifications to go ahead for the new doctor's surgery."
