Council funds FREE celeb-endorsed course to stop vaping (and our reporter tried it)
The course is currently fully funded by Norfolk County Council for smokers and for people who have used e-cigarettes as a stop-smoking aid but now want to quit vaping too.
The Allen Carr's Easyway method (ACE) was adopted by the council as an approved stop smoking initiative for those who want to beat nicotine addiction without replacement products or prescribed medication.
The method focuses on the psychological side of addiction, changing how smokers think and feel about cigarettes and vapes by highlighting the positives of living smoke-free.

Sir Richard Branson, comedian Matt Lucas, presenter Claudia Winkleman, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and actor Jonah Hill are among the 20 million worldwide who stopped smoking thanks to the programme’s psychology-based approach.
Now Norfolk residents are joining the ranks of successful quitters across the globe after a number of places were made available for free.

Since the method was adopted by Norfolk County Council in April 2024, 861 smokers have attended a five-hour seminar either online or in person.
Of these, 406 remained smoke free at four weeks.
Fran Whymark, cabinet portfolio holder for public health, said: “Quitting smoking is one of the best steps you can take to improve your health, and in Norfolk we’re proud to offer a variety of free, proven support options to help every resident find the path that works best for them.
