Campaign to save parish hall from redevelopment rejected by council

Locals fighting plans to convert the building into flats and a shop had put forward an application for the hall to be listed as an Asset of Community Value.

But North Norfolk District Council has rejected the application, despite a growing number of objections to the development proposals.

Cromer Parochial Church Council wants to close the hall, around 120 yards from St Peter and St Paul church, saying the move would reduce maintenance costs and help it manage its assets more efficiently.

The proposals would see a retail unit take up about 75pc of the ground floor at the northern end of the building, with a ground-floor flat at the southern end and two further flats on the first........
