A barn in the Norfolk countryside could be knocked down to make way for a new bungalow.

West Norfolk Council has received plans to demolish the structure at Syderstone, between Fakenham and Docking.

It had originally agreed the metal sheet-clad structure on Mill Lane could be converted under permitted development rights which allow old farming buildings to become homes.

But plans have now been drawn up to remove it entirely and construct a purpose-built two-bedroom bungalow on its 380sq m site.

They say the "self-build" property at Anvil Farm would enable the applicants, named in planning papers as Mr and Mrs Green, to "downsize" into an easier-to-manage, single-storey home.
