The scaffolding has been built around the old Victorian gasholder, on Barrack Road in Great Yarmouth, as part of National Grid’s plans to restore the structure.

The thousands of tubes making up the gasholder scaffold could, if laid end to end, run for around 10 to 15 miles - broadly the distance from Great Yarmouth to Acle and beyond.

A spokesman for National Grid said: "The first stage of work to remove the tank at the bottom of the gasholder was completed in the summer of 2025.

"We are now progressing........
