The inquest for William Corley, 86, known as Bill, was held on April 23 at Suffolk Coroner's Court by Peter Taheri.

It heard that Mr Corley, from Beccles, died of pneumonia contributed to by metastatic mesothelioma, an industrial disease associated with asbestos exposure of the lung.

He died at the James Paget University Hospital on September 29, 2023.

The court heard Mr Corley was, more likely than not, exposed to asbestos while working in one or more roles during his working life as a welder.

He worked at many different power stations, in which he regularly came into contact with asbestos, including in the form of lagging on pipes and asbestos dust.

Mr Corley was married to Margaret and had two sons, Raymond and Liam.

His funeral was held at St Benet's Church, Beccles on November 7, 2023.

The formal conclusion for his death was that Mr Corley died as a result of pneumonia contributed to by a known industrial disease.
