Officers from Great Yarmouth Borough Council have blocked the application for the new site at Caister, meaning it will not even be considered by councillors at planning meeting.

Developers had wanted to build the fast-food outlet - along with a petrol station and drive-through coffee shop - at the junction of Yarmouth Road and the Caister bypass.

As well as raising concerns about the impact on the countryside, officials also said the businesses could create an accident blackspot.
