Traffic Conundrum
Traffic accidents in Pakistan are a natural phenomenon at this point and have become unavoidable yet they do not get the same seriousness as many other fatal incidents.
It could be attributed to daily occurrence and desensitization yet that is not enough to explain the blasé attitude of officials, citizens, and drivers alike. The crux of the matter is, that although with the change in government many new steps have been taken to regulate traffic and stop such incidents the reverse seems to have happened.
With all the road traffic issues being taken into consideration the accidents seem to have developed a directly proportional relationship in the Twin Cities instead. Measures like e-challans, camera installations, tighter patrols, and presence of on-ground traffic police on every major road and junction seem to have had the opposite effect on the locals.
All of these measures have been taken to ensure citizen safety on roads yet the accidents have increased and become fatal as well. It could be claimed that worsening fog and dense traffic on roads due to ongoing developmental projects such as remodeling of Kacheri Chowk........
