The House Oversight Committee’s scheduled closed-door deposition of convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell went as expected Monday, with the onetime British socialite refusing to answer any questions related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and their alleged crimes. Maxwell’s lawyer David Markus told lawmakers that his client invoked her right against self-incrimination because she is currently challenging her conviction, which he said stems from a “fundamentally unfair trial.”
