MMQB: A look at the 3 teams still fighting for a playoff spot

13.10.2026

We’re coming out of Mobil Thanksgiving Weekend with a little more playoff clarity. It’s been a while since we could say that!

Thanks to a 27-12 win over Hamilton on Friday, Edmonton has clinched a home playoff date at Commonwealth Stadium for the first time since 2015. Next up is clinching top spot in the West, which they can do with a single win in their remaining two games or a BC loss at any point.

Speaking of the Lions, they became the second West Division team to clinch a playoff spot with a 41-20 win over Ottawa on Friday. BC’s magic number to clinch second, and thus a home playoff date, is down to one. Any Lions win or Winnipeg loss in the final two weeks will lock that up for the former.

So, with BC joining Edmonton, Montreal, and Toronto, we now have four of six playoff spots spoken for.

That means we’re down to the Bombers, Riders, and Stampeders for two playoff spots: the final seed in the West Division and the crossover position. All three teams have feasible roads to the postseason, but hurdles still exist.

Let’s take a closer look at how things are shaping up for this trio with The Final Stretch into its closing acts.
