iOS 13 shows Apple is serious about privacy

When Apple first announced its new mobile software earlier this year it promised to stand up for its users' right to privacy against the likes of Google, Facebook and the thousands of smaller developers out for your data. And now that an early version of iOS 13 is available for the public to test, we can see what that looks like.

Ever since the Cambridge Analytica scandal, there’s been a lot more talk about what our digital privacy means.

Companies get to a lot of our private data through our phones, and Apple is trying to crack down on it.

There’s the garden variety “I like my privacy” and “companies having all of my data is bad”, and then there’s realising that there are consequences much larger than just having embarrassing secrets revealed or your identity stolen. We all knew our private data was being sold and used to sell us more stuff, we just didn’t realise that stuff included ideologies and political candidates we would have........
