I’ve taken up a new activity, and it just might be the end of me.
For years, I’ve done pilates and yoga, using videos and a yoga mat in the safety of my own home.
But a few weeks ago, I decided to challenge myself. I gave an actual pilates class a whirl.
The class uses a pilates reformer machine, and it’s a special form of both fun and torture.
Every time I take a class, I feel great afterward, aware of muscles that are rarely used, which is a good feeling.
But I have no idea what I’m doing, and I live in a vague fear that with one wrong move, I’ll fly off the end of the machine. My limbs don’t obey my brain’s orders to do certain moves sometimes, but I’m determined to keep trying.
Despite all that, I really do enjoy it. But I would not be surprised to find myself in the beginner’s class for a very long time!.
