Tuesday’s fog was pretty impressive. I was out on my morning walk, and it was like walking through a cloud. Visibility was low, and when a rare car drove past, their headlights and taillights were completely distorted.

The conditions were challenging for drivers, and while I was walking, I got an alert from my child’s school district, notifying me of a road closure/detour from the rain.

For a moment, I thought for sure I was going to see the schools were on a fog delay.

That is a common occurrence in Ohio where I grew up. Schools push back the start time an hour or two to let the fog abate, offering safer conditions for kids walking to school and for buses and drivers out on the roads.

Yuma certainly is unlikely to ever have a snow day. But a fog delay? On a day with conditions like Tuesday morning’s, it might not be a bad idea.
