Edinburgh's West Town: A new city rising – or a chance slipping away? The numbers are staggering. More than 20,000 new homes to be built providing accommodation for around 50,000 people. An almost 10 per cent jump in Edinburgh’s population. A new, as yet unnamed, part of the city providing modern accommodation, new schools, health facilities and roads. A concert arena. New hotels. A green corridor that will allow the public to walk from Cramond Shore to Pentland Hills without crossing a road. A place where public transport is prioritised. And all within the city boundary.
