VICTORIA — Conservative leader John Rustad took to social media on the weekend to “clarify” a comment where he expressed support for a Nuremberg-type prosecution of those who promoted COVID-19 mandates and vaccines.

Rustad said he’d “misunderstood” the question put to him during a forum organized by two groups representing public sector workers opposed to the vaccine mandates.

He was asked point blank whether he was “OK for a Nuremberg 2.0.?”

That’s shorthand for the view that public health officials, doctors and should be put on trial for presiding over “medical experimentation” with an “unproven” vaccine.

“That’s probably something that’s outside of my scope … in terms of jurisdiction of B.C.,” replied Rustad. “But if, you know, we would certainly be participating with other jurisdictions as we look at those sorts of issues.”

Rustad made the comment to the groups back in June. When it was reported Sunday by the Press Progress online news service, he responded with a post on X, the social media platform.

“I want to clarify my position on a critical issue,” wrote Rustad. “I misunderstood the question posed........
