Tuesday evening marks a year since a handcuffed Robert Brooks Sr. was hauled out of the back of a state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision vehicle at Marcy Correctional Facility to receive the first of three beatings at the hands of state employees. The final assault, carried out in the prison infirmary, was so brutal that it led to Mr. Brooks being transferred to the hospital, where a few hours later he was declared dead at age 43.

The corrections officers involved attempted to cover up their actions with lies, and they would likely have gotten away with it if not for body-camera footage of the savagery that four of them didn’t know they were........
