Drone attack struck turbine building at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, IAEA says

The International Atomic Energy Agency says it has been informed by the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine that a drone struck a turbine building at the site, reportedly causing a hole in its wall.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi expresses serious concern about the reported incident and says: “Attacking nuclear sites is like playing with fire.”

The IAEA’s team at the Russian-held power plant has requested access to examine the affected turbine building first-hand, the agency says in an X post.

French police arrest 416 as tensions erupt in celebration of PSG’s Champions League title

French police have arrested over 416 people after violent clashes erupted when thousands poured onto the streets during the Paris Saint-Germain soccer club’s Champions League final victory, according to the country’s Interior Ministry.

Some 22,000 police were deployed across France for the game, including 8,000 in Paris, after unrest marred PSG’s win in the competition last year. Paris tram lines were halted, several metro stations shut and bus traffic halted in places in a bid to minimise disturbances.
