While the world celebrates peace and the possibility of a harmonious future, Israel has launched the most bloodthirsty attack of the entire campaign against Lebanon’s capital city, Beirut. In a move designed simply to draw blood and inflict as much pain as possible, Israel bombed hospitals, bakeries, cemeteries, schools and apartment buildings, and indiscriminately carpet-bombed a city to take out its frustration at not being able to defeat Iran and having suffered countless casualties. Perhaps a more insidious objective is to undermine the peace deal, which clearly includes Lebanon.

Lessons from Modern War

Now, with its intense, punitive and rabid bombing campaign over Beirut, Israel is challenging Iran to retaliate, challenging other parties to continue the conflict, and signalling that, no matter what the rest of the world wants, as long as blood flows, Israel remains satisfied. This attack, and the reality that the United States has been coerced, its Congress bought and its executives sold, means that Washington will likely follow the precedent set by Israel. Already, conflicting statements are emerging from the United States claiming that Lebanon was never part of any agreement.

This reveals that the true enemy of world peace, in this moment, is one nation and one nation alone. Israel, and its citizens embedded into governments across the world, will not allow peace to take hold and will act to sabotage it at every turn. Whatever the outcome of this war, this fragile peace and the wider conflicts across the world, one thing is becoming increasingly clear.

Retention Dilemma

As long as Israel is allowed to exist in its current form as a genocidal apartheid state run by Jewish supremacists, violence and barbarity will remain the order of the day across the Middle East. The Israeli government must be dismantled, and the entire world bears the responsibility of bringing this psychopathic society to heel.
