Pakistan’s long battle with terrorism has often been portrayed as a domestic malaise, a scourge born from internal fissures. Yet, the revelations of the past year make it increasingly clear that foreign hands have been entangled in much of the violence that the country has endured and been blamed for. Accepting culpability without scrutiny has cost lives, economic stability, and the country’s standing on the global stage. To continue down that path would be to indulge in convenient narratives that serve neither justice nor national interest.
