Diluting Dependence
Pakistan and Indonesia’s decision to establish a Joint Trade Committee (JTC) is a timely and strategically sound move to reinvigorate bilateral economic engagement. Aimed at addressing trade barriers, expanding market access and identifying new avenues of cooperation. In a global climate shaped by economic volatility and political uncertainty, such steps carry significance beyond routine diplomatic exchanges.
The move deserves appreciation for its realism. Both Pakistan and Indonesia are large, developing economies with complementary markets.
