EDITORIAL: Primaries are good for voters

For politicians and their political parties, the last thing they want is any public perception of disagreement or dissension. That’s why they don’t like it when they’re forced to hold party primaries to determine the candidates who will carry the party line in the general election.

Political unity inspires strength and power and progress and the ability to get things done. Party infighting creates an image of indecision, disorganization and an inability to get things done.

On both sides, whatever negatives each candidate exposes about their opponent in the primaries will be fodder for their opponents in the general election. Those negatives might compel donors to spend their........
