Republican election lies are tearing our commonwealth apart

1 0 0

I was deeply disappointed this week to see Republicans in the Pennsylvania Senate acting to undermine election security in Pennsylvania, expose the personal information of millions of voters and waste an undetermined amount of taxpayer money.

Nearly a year after the 2020 General Election took place, Pennsylvania Republicans are using their power and influence in Harrisburg to continue spreading lies and conspiracy theories about an election that has been over for nearly a year, and which the former president’s own administration called "the most secure in American history." The 2020 General Election in Pennsylvania elected two Republicans to statewide office in addition to Republican majorities in the state House and Senate. Every representative and half of the senators holding office in the Pennsylvania General Assembly were elected in the 2020 General Election. Republicans holding office in our state accepted the validity of their own victories — but that hasn’t stopped them from spreading misinformation and outright lies about the system that elected them.

Over the past year, Republicans actively undermined popular reforms to our election system for political gain. Instead of demonstrating leadership, they bowed to the whims of conspiracy theorists and spread doubt and misinformation about our elections.
