More Democrats fear former President Trump being reelected than Republicans fear President Biden’s potential second term, according to a new poll.

The poll found 66 percent of Democrats are extremely fearful of another Trump term in the White House, according to the results from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs.

Another 11 percent of Democrats said they were somewhat fearful, while 22 said they were not very or not at all fearful of a Trump win.

In contrast, about 49 percent of Republicans said they are scared of Biden being reelected. Eighteen percent said they are somewhat fearful, and 32 percent said they are not very or not fearful at all.

Biden and Trump are barreling toward a 2020 rematch next November as they became their respective parties’ presumptive nominees earlier this month. According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling average, Trump has a narrow 1-point lead over Biden in national polling.

Most Republicans said they are satisfied or excited about a potential second term for Trump, with 59 percent saying they are very satisfied and 54 percent saying they are very excited.

Democrats are less likely to say they are extremely excited for Biden’s potential reelection. Forty percent of Democrats said they are very excited for Biden to potentially be reelected, 30 percent say they are somewhat excited and another 30 percent said they are not or not very excited.

Half of Democrats said they are very satisfied with another term for Biden, 31 percent said they are somewhat satisfied and 19 percent said they are not very satisfied.

The poll was conducted Thursday through Monday among 1,282 adults nationwide and has a margin of error of 3.8 percentage points.
