💰 In Congress
Mike Johnson hates it here:
Politico’s Rachael Bade reports that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is not enjoying his leadership gig.
“He has complained about the long hours and constant travel, according to those who have recently spoken to him, and a series of escalating internal clashes have made the job a joyless slog. At least there’s this: Many of his colleagues don’t believe he’ll be doing it much longer.”

Think about it: In the past five months, Johnson has spent much of his time attempting to wrangle a rowdy caucus of fragmented Republicans while trying to meet several short-term government funding deadlines. He spent his Easter recess trying to navigate the controversial issue of Ukraine aid, which has the support of most Democrats but only some Republicans. He has been forced to compromise with Democrats to avoid government shutdowns — and those compromises led to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) filing a motion to oust him. Sounds like a blast to me.
Hmm a Democrat, you say?: In a phone interview Wednesday with CNN’s Manu Raju, Greene compared Johnson to former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
And in an interview on Steve Bannon’s ‘War Room’: Greene slammed Johnson for supporting Ukraine aid: “One guy said it to me like this. He goes, ‘Do they have Mike Johnson’s wife tied up somewhere and have a gun to her head? What is wrong with Mike Johnson?’”
➤ WE HAVE LOTS OF QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS UKRAINE AID:
The Hill’s Mike Lillis made a list of five questions on how Speaker Johnson “could try to thread a needle on Ukraine aid.”
Mayorkas will be given an E-ZPass for the toll booth:

Senate aides told The Hill’s Alexander Bolton that they expect Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to quickly dismiss the impeachment charges against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
What to expect: The House impeachment managers are expected to present the charges to the Senate next week. Schumer could then schedule a motion to dismiss the charges; i.e., no trial. Schumer could instead pass the charges to a committee, but that may validate Republicans’ claims. Read more on what to expect
👟 On The Campaign Trail
Try crafting a better combo for Gen Z voters. I’ll wait:
“Abortion and marijuana will be on the ballot in Florida in November — two issues that are expected to mobilize young voters toward President Biden and Democrats in the Sunshine State,” reports The Hill’s Alex Gangitano.
How we know — Look at Ohio’s turnout last year: Abortion was on the ballot, and liberal voters turned out in large numbers to protect abortion access. Recreational marijuana was also on the ballot — and Ohio voted to legalize it.
Why Florida has been getting so much attention this week: The Florida Supreme Court weighed in on three high-profile issues, two of which will allow all Floridians to weigh in.
- The court allowed a six-week ban on abortion to take effect next month.
- The court allowed abortion access to appear on November’s ballot.
- The court also allowed recreational marijuana to appear on November’s ballot.
