After being relatively quiet on the issue for months, President Donald Trump is once again making bold statements that the United States should control Greenland.  

The U.S. “needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Wednesday, adding the nation “is vital for the Golden Dome that we are building.”  

In May, Trump announced plans for a U.S. “Golden Dome” to block missile attacks. Greenland, the world’s largest island, straddles the North Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic Ocean, providing a strategic location between the U.S. and Russia.  

“NATO should be leading the way for us to get it,” Trump said of Greenland. “IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!”
