Dragons are in the hunt for Anzac Day upset

There are few matches on the NRL calendar that I enjoy more than the traditional ANZAC Day fixture between the Dragons and Roosters, this year at the SCG. The bookmakers might say the Roosters will do it easily but, with no Luke Keary because of concussion and coming off an emotionally and physically draining golden-point win over the Storm last week, I can the see the Dragons causing an upset.

The Dragons hit their peak last season in this match, winning 24-8. I left Allianz Stadium that night thinking I had just seen the premiers. We all know what happened: they hit Origin, fell in a hole and never really recovered despite playing bravely late in the season.

They’ve really impressed me in the last few weeks. They really opened up against the Bulldogs and, while it was a toil against Manly in Wollongong last Saturday night, they just found a way to win, even if it was with two minutes left in the match. That’s how you know a team is going well: they hung in and found that last try to get it done.
