The Businesses of West Elgin: Tranquil Earth Studio

There’s an increasing number of new businesses in our area that have hooked me at first sniff with their tantalizing aromas — be it perfumes, soaps, food or freshly ground coffee — when I walk through their doors.
One of the businesses we patronized for several years was the now-closed Pure Soap, which boasted the fragrances of Suzanne Brears’ fabulous formulations in her work area at the rear of 168 Main St. in West Lorne. This large location has been home to — and continues to be — the location of a variety of shops and services, many of which have been featured in this column.
The gorgeous phoenix that has arisen from the fragrances of Pure Soap is Tranquil Earth Studio, a name that evokes a sense of peace, harmony and happiness. The word “studio” paints a mental picture for me of an intensely creative space.
Jamie Blake reopened the doors of the business, which can be accessed via the side door in the alley beside the West Lorne Foodland, in November 2024. Previously, Brears had announced plans to close here storefront business to focus on the creation of her products, creating new variations to fill........
