The Trump administration is planning to temporarily suspend tariff-rate quotas on beef imports from all exporting countries, a move designed to allow more beef into the U.S. at lower tariff rates as domestic prices hit record highs, according to The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed sources.
Under the tariff-rate quota system, once imports from a given country exceed a set annual ceiling, a steeper tariff kicks in. Lifting those ceilings across the board would open the door to larger volumes of foreign beef entering American markets without triggering the higher rate. The change could take........
