The Silver Bean Café has always held a special place in my heart. For years, it has been one of my favourite places to meet friends over coffee or to attend community events.

There are two locations nestled along the banks of the Otonabee River. The Downtown location in Millenium Park at 130 King St. or the café in the front entrance of the Canadian Canoe Museum at 2077 Ashburnham Dr.

What makes the two locations stand out?

Each time I go, I get to enjoy a break from the reality of city living. The Downtown location feels like a cottage nestled in the trees. There is a large terrace that is right on the river’s edge and completely shaded.

At the table, you can sit while the river flows gently beneath you while you enjoy a conversation. Either location offers a welcome escape from the pace of city life. Afterwards, I often enjoy a walk through Beavermead, Rogers Cove or along the sidewalks of the Downtown core.

More recently, I have found myself visiting the Silver Bean Café at the Canadian Canoe Museum. Every visit leaves me just as impressed as the last. The museum’s stunning architecture, designed by Unity Design Studio, is remarkable.
