PESHAWAR – Intermittent rain-wind/thunderstorms with few heavy falls and isolated hailstorms are likely in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from April 17 to April 21.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over western Balochistan. It will likely grip most parts of Balochistan on April 17 (Wednesday).
Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorms with few heavy and isolated very heavy falls are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner and Malakand, Waziristan, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan and Kurram with occasional gaps from April 17 to April 21. Hailstorms and snowfall over high mountains are also expected during the period.
Heavy rainfall may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Manshera and tributaries of the Kabul River from April 18 to April 20. Landslides are expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from April 18 to April 21.
Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may damage standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels. Tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travelling during the period. Temperatures are likely to drop due to the wet spell.
Peshawar’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 28-30 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 27-29 C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours. However, rain occurred in parts of the province.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 31 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 37 per cent.
In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 29 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 39 per cent.
