LAHORE – Pakistani citizens are required to get their Smart National Identity Cards renewed well time before the expiry date or immediately after the expiry in order to avail various government and other services.

National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) is the competent authority to issue or renew the ID cards, which are essential for various routine matters ranging from opening a bank account to buying a property, investment or job.

With an expiry ID card, the Pakistani citizen is not eligible to avail these services or even apply for the job.

The unique 13 digit identification number is recognized all over the country. It is the first requirement of individuals as it is mandatory to obtain documents like license, NTN, bank account, passport, cellular connection etc. Every citizen of Pakistan, 18 years and above, is eligible for NIC.

As of April 2024, there is no change in the renewal fee for the Smart National Identity Card (SNIC). The normal fee for Smart NIC stands at Rs750, whereas urgent fee is Rs1,500 and executive fee for renewal services is Rs2,500.

The ID card is issued for with 10 years validity. Normal/Urgent/Executive category timeline will start after approval of case by the case and fee mentioned above are exclusive of delivery charges.
