LAHORE – Rain-wind/thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms are predicted in Lahore and parts of Punjab during the current week.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over western Balochistan. It will likely grip most parts of Balochistan on April 17 (Wednesday).

Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorms with few heavy falls and hailstorms are expected in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan and Sahiwal from April 18 to April 21. Rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar with occasional gaps from April 18 to April 20.

Landslides are expected in Murree and Galyat from April 18 to April 21. Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may damage standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels. Farmers are advised to manage their crops keeping in view the weather conditions. Tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travelling during the forecast period. Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.

Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 31-33 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 30-32 C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in most parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. However, rain occurred in parts of the province.

Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 35 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 35 per cent.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 32 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 38 per cent.
