ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted cold and dry weather for Islamabad and most parts of Pakistan on Tuesday evening/night, Wednesday and Thursday.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect north-eastern parts of Balochistan and southern Punjab in next 24 hours.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Islamabad and most parts of the country and freezing in upper parts on Tuesday evening/night and the next two days.

However, rain wind-thunderstorm with snowfall over mountains is likely at isolated places in northeast Balochistan and southern Punjab during evening/night. Shallow fog is likely to persist at isolated places in plain areas of Punjab during morning and night hours.

Islamabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 00-02 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and -01-01 C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Shallow fog prevailed over few plain areas of Punjab. Rain/snow occurred in Rawalakot and Murree.

Kalam remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 14 C below freezing.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 02 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 92 per cent.
