PESHAWAR – Widespread rain-wind/thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms are likely in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday evening/night and Saturday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a strong westerly wave prevails over most parts of Pakistan.

Under these conditions, More rain-wind/thunderstorms with few heavy and isolated very heavy falls are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Kurram, Kohat, Lucky Marwat, Bannu, Waziristan, Tank, Kark and Dera Ismail Khan on Friday evening/night and Saturday. Hailstorms are also likely at isolated places. Snowfall is also likely at high mountains.

Heavy rainfall may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra and tributaries of Kabul River. Windstorm/hailstorm and lightning may damage standing crops, loose structures like electric poles and solar panels during the period.

Peshawar’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 22-26 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 26-28 C on Sunday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where maximum temperature was recorded at 32 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 95 per cent.

In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 24 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 95 per cent.
