Cultural crossroads for Pakistani youth

The topic of Western culture’s impact on Pakistani youth remains hotly contested. It permeates social media, dominates media conversations and reverberates in homes. Western culture has spread more widely due to social media, streaming services and cellphones. The essential question remains: does this influence pose a threat to Pakistan’s religious and cultural norms or does it present a chance for advancement and international engagement? The solution lies in planned and well-informed integration rather than rejection or mindless acceptance.

Many critics view Western influence as a cultural threat. They equate Western liberal ideas with increased individualism, the decline of the joint family system and the erosion of community traditions. The growing dominance of English over local languages, Western fashion trends and the pursuit of material achievement are sometimes regarded as indicators of moral deterioration.........
