LAHORE – Punjab’s interim government announced new timings for schools as extreme weather conditions continue in the region.

A notification issued by the School Education Department confirmed an extension in the revised timings for all schools due to the cold wave sweeping in Lahore, and parts of Punjab.

The new announcement said school classes will continue to start at 9:30 am until January 31, 2024. The decision aligns with the Naqvi-led government’s commitment not to advance winter holidays in educational institutions.

With the late commencement of school classes, educational activities will continue while ensuring the well-being of students during the biting cold weather.

Punjab, KP, Kashmir, Balocghistan are reeling under strong cold wave, however in Punjab, government decided not to extend holidays.

The Punjab government’s decision to reopen schools has not pleased everyone as cold combined with worsening air quality. Earlier, parents urged government for extension in winter holidays amid the ongoing cold wave as temperature remains below average.

Schools winter vacations extended till January 15
