PESHAWAR – More rains and isolated hailstorms are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday evening/night, Monday and Tuesday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over the western and upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely strengthen this evening and persist in the upper parts till Tuesday.

Under these conditions, more rain-windstorm/thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Kohat, Kurram, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakky Marwat, Bannu, Tank, Waziristan and Karak on Sunday evening/night, Monday and Tuesday. Heavy falls are also expected at a few places in upper districts.

Heavy rainfall may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Manshera, Kohistan and Kashmir from today till 29th April. Landslides are also likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may affect human lives, standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels.

Peshawar’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 22-24 degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile, rain-windstorms/thunderstorms occurred in twin cities, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Punjab, north Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 32 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 73 per cent.

In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 24 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 95 per cent.
