KARACHI – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the prevailing heatwave to persist across Sindh till May 27.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure prevails in the upper atmosphere, which will likely persist this week.

Under these conditions, heatwaves will continue to persist across Sindh till May 27. Day temperatures will remain 06 to 08°C above normal levels in upper districts and 04 to 06°C in other parts of the province. In Karachi and other coastal areas, hot and humid weather is expected.

Karachi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 37-39°C on Thursday and 38-40°C on Friday.

Hyderabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 46-48°C on Thursday and 47-49°C on Friday.

Meanwhile, very hot and dry weather prevailed in most districts of Sindh during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed in Karachi and other coastal areas.

Mohenjo-Daro, Jacobabad and Dadu remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 49°C. Maximum temperature in Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Rohri, Sukkur and Padidan was recorded at 48°C, Mithi and Chhor at 47°C.

In Karachi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 60 per cent.

In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 46°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 47 per cent.
