Lose Americans and you will lose America

Olivebridge, N.Y.: Benjamin Netanyahu, I know you were here to give direction to our president as you continue the wars that keep you in office. Thank the American taxpayers who pay for your war. We’ve depleted our defenses to serve you and your war cabinet. Hard-working Americans are living through a wartime economy without having declared war. We’ve never been consulted about this support, and the polls don’t favor your wars.

You should pay your respects to the families of the American service men and women killed supporting your war. How about an apology to Rep. Ro Khanna, who was detained by West Bank settlers (with American firearms), then detained by the IDF? That they believed it was OK to detain an elected official from the country that makes your war efforts possible speaks to the culture you’ve created.

Finally, you should thank Mayor Mamdani. When I read ” ‘He’s trying to turn 1 group against the other’ ” (July 27), I had to laugh since this accusation comes from you. Mamdani was propelled into office by the growing opposition to your behavior. He tapped into a deep concern many Americans feel but feared expressing lest they be accused of antisemitism. Mamdani showed that all the propaganda and threats against those Americans (“useful idiots,” you’ve said) will not stem this tide. This feeling will carry others into office who promise to end our support.
