Richard Evans had been in a relationship with the victim for about 12 years and also has children with her although she split with him about a year before the attack.

Norwich Crown Court heard that Evans attacked the victim while at her house in March this year.

Martin Ivory, prosecuting, said: "An argument developed and he grabbed her by the throat and she was punched to the head".

The prosecution barrister said after being grabbed by the throat she "lost consciousness for a short time".

After coming around on the floor she was able to feel a large lump on the back of her head and was "dizzy and confused".........
