Carli Harper, who has served as the cabinet member for finance at City Hall, has been named as the party's candidate for the mayoralship, which will be created as part of a £1bn devolution deal.

Ms Harper has been chosen by members following hustings across both counties, with an election due to take place next year to decide who will take on the new role.
