Roche Henry, formerly of Millwrights Way, Norwich appeared at Norwich crown court after an attack in which he grabbed a woman around the throat.

The 45-year-old launched a violent “unprovoked attack” on the woman in which she was pushed against a wall, punched and throttled, a court heard.

On Friday he admitted at court to assault occasioning actual bodily harm against the woman on October 7 last year.

Jailing Henry for three years, Recorder Michael Turner said it was an "ugly" incident and a "completely unprovoked attack".

Mathew Oarton, 37, of Devonshire Street in Norwich was jailed after pleading guilty to stealing from a shop in Lovelace Road on February 23.

He appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Monday for the count of theft along with breaching a suspended sentence from a separate offence.

He was jailed for 30 weeks.

Stephen Grey, 39, of Lound Road, Norwich, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court on April 10, where he pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in a public place.

In the early hours of Tuesday, officers were driving along Dereham Road where they spotted Grey who was wanted on recall to prison.

Grey received a sentence of 26 weeks in prison and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.

David Smith, 44, of Jewson Road, Catton Grove, Norwich, admitted to 15 charges and asked for 17 more to be taken into consideration when he appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Monday.

Smith stole items including meat, vapes, alcohol and laundry products, targeting multiple Co-op stores, Asda, Lidl and Tesco among others.

While in custody Smith engaged with Norfolk Constabulary's Operation Converter and admitted to 17 other offences.

Smith was jailed for 16 weeks and ordered to pay costs of £187.
