Jack Framingham, who weighs 23 stone, applied to Taverham Dental Health Clinic in Fakenham Road on March 25, only to be told a day later that he was over the 21 stone weight limit for the dental chairs.

The 26-year-old, who is in search of a new dentist because he is moving from Dereham to Horsford, says he is "disgusted" by the surgery's treatment of him.

Mr Framingham said: "I've approached several surgeries and no one else has had a weight limit and I've been fine - but they just don't have room.

"Taverham have room so it's upsetting they don't treat everyone as equals.

"It's impossible to find another surgery closer to where I am right now so it's frustrating they won't accept me and given the reason, it's downright disgusting.

"Things are hard enough without having to worry about what weight the dental chairs take - it's something they should address."

Mr Framingham voiced his criticism in a review on Google detailing his experience and received a response from the practice.

It said: "We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused during your recent visit to our clinic.

"Our primary goal is to provide exceptional care and comfort to all our patients.

"We assure you that this is in no way intended to discriminate or cause discomfort.

"Our utmost priority is to ensure that your journey with us is as comfortable and smooth as possible.

"We deeply regret any misunderstanding or dissatisfaction you may have experienced and we value your feedback."
