Christian Cornell and Lottie Hill awoke to sounds of “screeching metal” on December 29 after a Co-op lorry overturned, took out a set of traffic lights and was left lying horizontal across a busy city road.

After crashing into a Vauxhall Astra, the lorry landed perilously close to the front of their new home, opposite Colman Road Infant School.
