A total of 14 neighbours who have written to their district council fear the new track, which could be built on a field near the Willow Centre in Cringleford, will attract anti-social behaviour, while others feel the new recreational facility would be a waste of money.

One neighbour writing to South Norfolk Council said: "After the council has spent £50,000 providing a good football pitch I feel firstly the money will have been wasted if this goes ahead. It is in the wrong place in a residential area."

But those who oppose the plans are now outnumbered by those who support them, with 18 people eager to see the scheme go ahead.

Another person, who also commented on the plans, praised Cringleford Parish Council's ambition for more facilities for young people.

They said: "Having more space and activities for older children should be encouraged and I praise the parish council for their work to engage the community in coming up with the plans."
