New map reveals Norfolk 'disproportionately hit' by solar schemes

Campaigners say the map demonstrates how, despite ministers claiming only 0.1pc of the UK's land is being used for solar power, the county is being disproportionately targeted by companies through the government's drive to hit net zero targets.

The Norfolk branch of the countryside charity CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England) says the map highlights the impact which mooted solar farms are already having or would have on the agricultural fields of south Norfolk.

That part of the county is particularly affected, with two huge schemes proposed - the 3,600-acre Tasway Energy Park on agricultural land near Long Stratton and the East Pye Solar Farm, which would span 2,700 acres of farmland, close to villages such as Hempnall, Saxlingham, Shotesham, Brooke, Woodton and Great........
